Hakiki Pangestu M.Pd

Hakiki Pangestu is one of lecturer who teaching Indonesia language in English major skill of  Tridinanti University Palembang. She was born at 22 of may 1984, she had already marriage with Gatot Prakesa, and now she had one daughter and one son in her life. Her daughter name is Variate Pangestu and her son name is Rakie Pangestu.
Actually she come from simple family, her father names is Susetiyo, he is from Javanese people,and he had already retired now. Her mother name is Asnah. She also from Javanese people. 

Continue, she ever studied at SD.N 260 Palembang, continue she enter to SMP N 21 palembang, and next she enter to the SMA yayasan Pembina Palembang for her senior high school. After that she continue her education at university of  Bina Darma Palembang for  her undergraduate, and continue she enter to the universitas PGRI Palembang for her graduate.

Then , she is success person now, she was to be teacher at SDN 211 Palembang since 2008 until now, and also she is lecturer of  Tridinanti University , not only in Tridinanti University but also she is lecturer of  IAIN Palembang.

USING MOBILE PHONE IN ENGLISH TEACHING

Actually Mobile phones is a tools of communication, not only for communication but also it has many function of the activity of life such as take a picture, make a video, play games  and etc. that is general function of the mobile phones. In Britain, for example Many of teenager are said to have mobile phones. (Mobile Life Youth Report, 2006).
The developing of technological capacities of mobile phones used for educational purpose. That is specific function of the mobile phones. Now, “ smart phones” can use to view a PDFs, and possess additional features such as a stopwatch and a GPS, and etc. but according to some school, mobile phone is useless for educational. A research project undertaken by the University of Nottingham has explored the use of mobile phones to support secondary students' learning. The study, conducted over nine months in 2007–08, involved 10 secondary teachers based in two individual schools and one cluster of three schools, in different areas of the country. It also involved over 300 of their middle and senior secondary students, selected by the teachers. The teachers chose the activities and the extent of participation for each group of students.
Using mobile phones also prohibited in the classroom, but sometime may to use for  students were allowed various levels of personal use such as receive important class for their parents.
The teacher and students realized that the mobile phones is very useful in daily life, it had improved  their communication of each other. For example, students could sent massage to the teacher  if they got the problem of learned. Many of student feel surprised that the mobile phones was successfully used for learning, and they enjoy to use mobile phones as a educational tools.
Sometime, some parents didn’t agree with this project, but they were invited to join in this project. In order they know what the real purpose of this project.
Early in the project, the students showing that it has two functions  in educational namely positive function ( for school life) and negative function ( social life).

PLUS AND MINUS OF INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY



Plus and minus of integrating technology in teaching and  learning  English process

                Technology is utilized for the upliftment of modern styles; it satisfied both visual and auditory senses of the students.

The Advantages of using technology in teaching and  learning  English process
  1. Especially For ESL students, technology can facilitate students to search information about English
  2.  Technology provide so many options as making teaching interesting and also making teaching more productive in terms of improvements. Technology is one of the most significant drivers of both social and linguistic change. Graddol: (1997:1

With the rapid development of science and technology , the emerging and developing of multimedia technology and its application to teaching,featuring audio, visual, animation, effects comes into full play the new era. It’s proved that multimedia technology plays a positive role in promoting activities and initiatives of student and teaching effect in English class.
  4.  Using media technology in teaching process able to cultivate student’s interest in study,to promote student’s communication capacity,to widen student’s knowledge to gain an insightful understanding to western culture, to improve teaching effect, to improve interaction between students and teacher,etc.


The disadvantages of using technology in teaching and learning English process

  1.  Using media technology makes student lazy to thinking.
  2.  Using media technology make major means replaced by the assisting one, its means that there is no confidently  of a teacher.
  3.  Loss of speaking communication because too often using media technology .
  4. The restriction of student’s thinking potential because of using media technology
  5.  Abstract thinking will be change by imaginable thinking
